Stockholm is pretty. I spent the day wandering around. Following breakfast at Hotel Hellsten in Norrmalm and a latte at Wayne’s I walked to Gamlastan and the Royal Palace. Unfortunately for tourists not much was open because of the summer solstice/mid-summer holiday. But it was a beautiful day — cool and sunny. After exploring the exterior of the Palace and some shops in Gamlastan, I walked over to Södermalm, the “bohemian” neighborhood. I was unsuccessful finding any galleries but I don’t think I walked far enough south. I did find a old church village, on a smaller scale to the Luleå Gammelstad. For lunch I stopped at Hermann’s on a cliff, overlooking the city, and sipped a glass of wine. In the evening, I walked back to the Hotel and checked out the chic shopping area in between Norrmalm and Östermalm on the way.
